DANAKIL
New Release “Entre Les Lignes” - March 2014
Since 2000 Danakil is crossing years and frontlines with a message of peace, love and solidarity. Danakil it’s 15 musicians and technicians on the road a long story of friendship and a resounding success in France and Europe! The group exports his music in Africa (concerts in Djibouti, Senegal and Gambia in 2012) and in America (Francofolies and Jazz Festival in Montréal) with a tour in United States of America in July 2013! Reggae has no frontlines, even French reggae! Their recipe for success depends of vital but simple ingredients as energy, nice feelings, determination, charisma and an incredible talent!
Despite the success achieved Zenith and Olympia in Paris the French are keeping their cool. On stage or on the road the group is preserving his identity his human values playing for pleasure, cultural and human exchanges. But Danakil it’s an essential albums collection too. In 2006 success is starting with “Microclimat”. In 2008 “Dialogue de Sourds” affirms the group’s talent on both music and lyrics. It’s with good reasons that some Jamaican stars as Jah Mason and The Mighty Diamonds are collaborating on that project. After a live recorded in 2009 Danakil is back on the road searching for new sounds and new meetings. From Tuff Gong studios in Kingston to the Manjul’s Humble Ark Studio (Dub to Mali, Takana Zion…) in Bamako in Mali the group gave birth to “Echos du Temps” fruit of the diversity and cultural mix that Danakil defends. Once again Jamaicans are on the album: U-Roy participates on the famous cover of “Non Je Ne Regrette Rien” (Edith Piaff), we can find the percussionist Sticky Thompson too (Bob Marley) or Winston and Mathew McAnuff! Biggest tracks of that last album went to the ends of the heart interpreted with a boundless energy and a disturbing sincerity. The audience was satisfied and met the man which is called Natty Jean! Danakil met him in Bamako, and the young singer brought some Senegal in his voice and in his texts in Wolof. With Balik they are forming an explosive and keen duet! Manjul who worked on the album’s arrangements was on tour with them for some dates. This was a beautiful travelogue that Danakil offered to his fans!
This 2012 tour has been immortalized in their last “Live à La Cigalle” recorded in March 10th 2012 and produced by the group’s label Baco Records. A new proof of Danakil engagement for an independent and united music. Baco Records also started with Natty Jean’s first album the excellent Santa Yall! A family story for real!
Adventure is continuing for Danakil! The combo went in America this summer! We hope that they obtained the same sense of joy and escape as us from the language of Molière, Balik’s rhymes, Boris’ waxy bass sound, Fab’s riffs guitar, Titi’s cliquing battery, Tom Tom and Dass’ brasses and Smart smoothy keyboard!
DANAKIL back at the mythic Olympia Paris in March 21th and 22th 2014!
