With the stage as a playground this three have a reputation for mash up stage they cross!
It all started with a joke while sitting on a bench back in 2006, but they soon became one of the bands to follow in 2013. Cheeko, D’Clik and Volodia, three voices, three different personalities that crystallize to form one. Our first suspect is a natural born leader that distinguishes himself through the fluidity of his flow and the impact of his lyrics. Following on D’Clik AKA “Skinny One”, is a true pistol-holder with a powerful voice and technical vocal phrasings. Number three on the list: you can call him Volo, is the secret ingredient that gives Phases Cachées its distinctive flavor.
Attention everybody, this is not a rap clique, not a reggae crew: they are so much more than that. Using venues as playgrounds, these three have the reputation of ripping up the stages they roll through. The 23 year old trio has already played more than a hundred shows ranging from low life bars to the most prestigious concert halls (New-Morning, Alhambra, Elysée-Montmartre…) The true force of Phases Chachées resides in the way they sense and tame their audience, from Rap festivals and sound systems to the semi finals of the “Chorus” contest in 2008, they have no boundaries.
Phases Cachées were the first Hip-Hop band, supported by 8 live musicians, to have won the Emergenza (2010) competition in France, raising themselves to 5th rank of the contest worldwide. With a “DIY” spirit, each member develops and expands the band’s territory in their own way. Cheeko is all about writing and counting, during that time Volo takes good care of your ears mixing the sounds and D’Clik adds a sparkle to your eyes directing their video clips. And as if that was not enough, together they organize live Hip-Hop events at the “Petit Bain” - Paris three times a year, innocently named «Boom Bap Boat»… This offers the public a chance to discover them through yet another angle.
After two mix-tapes and several solo featurings, the band is now back with their first album : « Boule à Facettes ». For the production, Phases Cachées called in S.E.B a beatmaker from Luxembourg (Masta Ace, Sean Price, El Da Sensei…). Twelve new tailor made tracks mark a new step for the three partners, ready to invade hard drives and stages around the world. Bringing in other musicians such as the “Danakil Band”, “Milk, Coffee & Sugar” (Gaël Faye / Edgar Sekloka) & Toki Wright from the Rhymesayers label, « Boule à Facettes » promises to shine and to truly reveal their hidden facets.
