In 2018, ten years after the release of their previous album Santhiaba, the legendary band Toure Kunda made their comeback with a new album Lambi Golo released on the independent record label Soulbeats Records (winner of the Charles-Cros Academy Award 2019 in the World Music category) and an anniversary tour celebrating their 40-year career.

Enjoying international popularity since its beginnings in the late 1970s, the band with 3 gold records has played everywhere: from small venues to Francofolies, including the Esplanade du Trocadéro for the arrival of Nelson Mandela in 1992, the 1st Fête de la Musique in France in 1982, from the Algiers or Dakar stadiums to Carnegie Hall in the company of Santana, from the United States to Japan. So many concerts and festivals on all continents that have helped to establish this ‘elephant family’ (“Toure Kunda” in Soninke) as an emblematic group and precursor of world music throughout the world.

Originally from Casamance, a cosmopolitan region in the South of Senegal, Ismaïla and Sixu Tidiane Toure mix styles, between African music, afro-beat, jazz, reggae, funk and even rock and pop. On their last opus, Lambi Golo, they sing in 5 languages, mix sabar drums and electric guitars, Casamance rhythms and more modern sounds. Their festive and sensitive music calls for dance, dreams and hope. Surrounded on stage by young people of different nationalities including Sixu Daby, Ismaïla’s son, and Fatou, a Senegalese dancer, the Toure family, tireless, always share their beautiful energy, which has remained intact after more than 40 years of career, through old and new pieces from its rich repertoire.
