Martha High, the blond-haired black princess with the diamond
voice, has sung with many great artists and above all James Brown,
with whom she had been working for almost 25 years..
James Brown discovered Martha High in 1966 as she was busy touring with the The Jewels,a famous female vocal group from the 1960’s.
From then on, she had been known as the « platin blond soul sister with a great voice ».
She spent almost 25 years with the Godfather and it sure was a performance that nobody else had ever challenged. Indeed, the Funky Diva has appeared on many funky masterpieces such as « Payback», « Bodyheat» or «Doin’ it to Death» and on the unforgettable duet with James Brown himself, « Summertime ».
