TEMPLE DEFENDERS The second chapter of their discography, ‘Gettin’ The Spirit’, is to be released in February 2009 on Soulbeats Records/ M’A Prod/ Discograph. Their new record sets them as one of the references of the new European Soul/Funk scene, most notably by working with Eddie Roberts(New Master Sounds) who performed the mixing and the mastering in Leeds(UK), the home of Deep Funk made in England. The special guest appearances of Dionne Charles, Martha High, The Gang Of Divas and The Jouby’s add more credits to the overall quality of the record. |

True to the sounds and arrangements of 60’s & 70’s Soul/Funk bands such as the JB’s, The Meters, as well as some artists from the Stax label(Otis Redding, Rufus Thomas, Johnnie Taylor...), their major weapons are as follow: vintage amps, a Hammond organ, a tight horn section, a ruthless rhythm section and above all a roaring lion, ‘The Lion Of Bordeaux’, a multi-talented singer combining the sweetness of Soul with the rawness of Funk. The audience is offered a journey into the past at each of their show, more than 200 up to now. They played in Montreal( International Jazz Festival), in Berlin but also at The Francofolies in La Rochelle, at The Olympia or at The Jamel Comedy Club in Paris, at the Garorock Festival, at the Nancy Jazz Pulsations and in a wide range of national stages. Martha High, James Brown’s most faithful vocalist, hired their talent to burn stages on more than 60 shows. As a result of their collaboration, they released a live album, ‘WOMAN’, in May 2008. |
